Ryan Seacrest is notorious for having his hands in just about everything these days, so it's no surprise he's now eying the tech industry.
The American Idol host and serial reality TV producer, who is known for using both an iPhone and BlackBerry device, invested $1 million in the Typo Keyboard, an iPhone accessory that aims to make typing a lot easier. The case snaps on to the top of an iPhone and turns the touchscreen keypad into one that resembles the BlackBerry's qwerty keyboard.

Microsoft and FBI Claim to Stamp Out Malware That Steals Ad Dollars

Microsoft is working with the FBI to stop malware responsible for infecting more than 2 million computers as a part of an effort to steal dollars from online advertising companies.
The company's digital crime unit said on Friday it has "successfully disrupted" rampant malware called the Sirefef botnet — also known as ZeroAccess — which recently targeted search results on sites such as Google, Bing and Yahoo search engines.

ZeroAccess malware affects devices running Windows by hijacking search results and downloading malicious malware onto infected systems. It directed each of its almost two million infected computers to click on as many as 48 ads an hour, but even though it wasn't true human traffic, advertisers were paying fees for fake clicks. Microsoft said the attack is estimated to cost online advertisers $2.7 million each month.

Google's Nexus TV Could Launch in Early 2014

Google is one step closer to unveiling its own Nexus-branded set-top box for streaming videos and playing games, according to a new report.
The set-top box, which streams video from services such as Hulu and Netflix will run on Android, and could be available as early as the first half of 2014, The Information reported Friday.

The tech publication is not the first to speculate on a set-top streaming device from Google. Months ago, The Wall Street Journal reported that Google showed off a prototype device in January at the Consumer Electronics Show in Vegas. The device reportedly had a motion sensor similar to Xbox's Kinect technology, and also supported Google Hangouts for video conferencing.
The idea that Google may soon join the battle for streaming set-top devices is not entirely surprising. The recent success of Netflix shows, including Orange Is the New Black and House of Cards, confirmed that viewers don't mind streaming their favorite shows. Traditional television is now just one of many ways people are consuming content.
A Nexus TV would face stiff competition from more established set-top devices such as Apple TV and Roku. Other tech companies like Intel and Amazon are reportedly building their own devices, as well.

Shaadi.com vs BharatMatrimony.com

This is a long due blog – due to the winner among the two and more so to my friends who are still hunting for a soul mate and are considering/using matrimony website(s) as one of their Stairways to Heaven.
Shaadi.com (henceforth referred to as Shaadi) and BharatMatrimony.com (henceforth referred to as BM) are the two largest matrimony websites in India. I do not have first-hand knowledge about JeevanSaathi.com or other websites. Before I jump into the comparison, I would like to dwell into when one finds his/her way into matrimonial websites, the dangers/prejudices it holds and where and when it works.
Philosophy and reality of matrimony websites
Matrimonial websites are rarely the first option for partner seekers, but they are good, and over the years, they have been very successful in getting the right match, and in some cases, an acceptable compromise. In my case, it didn’t give the solution in the end, but I learned well about Shaadi and BM and have a reasonable idea which one would give a good success rate for which type of people.
So, let’s start with general sphere of influence of these matrimony websites. They are:

My Review of Watch With eBay as a SecondScreen Experience

If you download the update to the regular eBay iPad app, you will notice a new icon on the bottom left-hand side of the screen that says "Watch with eBay".  Honestly, the experience as a #SecondScreen app or otherwise is disappointing.  While the registration process is rather simple (your ZIP code, your provider), many of the channels in the channel line-up (I use AT&T U-verse) are missing and the items offered for the channels that do exist are only based on the title of the program (not the contents)--they are not even based on the descriptive metadata of the title itself (ie the summary of the Seinfeld episode, etc).  There is no audio fingerprinting (recognition) like you find in IntoNow and no apparent presence of audio watermarking--nothing to tell the iPad what channel or episode you are watching (you have to type it in).

- Simple.  It does not allow control of the 1st screen in any way what so ever.  In fact, the use of the app itself is not "simple" either.  You tell it what channel you are watching and it puts loosely related items up based on the title in the EPG.
